Zhejiang: Hangzhou Hi-tech District has 2,000 patent applications

According to statistics of Zhejiang Intellectual Property Office, the patent applications of Hi-tech District (Binjiang) broke 2,000 pieces for the first time in 2009, up to 2,069 pieces, increased by 77.29 percent, and hit a historically high level, of which the invention patent applications amounted to 1,363 pieces, accounting for 65.88% of the total; authorized patents were 1,280 pieces, invention patent authorizations reached 430, increased by 28.77% and 52.48% respectively.

In patent applications, the amount of service patent applications and authorizations in the district respectively accounts for 91.64% and 84.05% respectively of the total amount, which reflected the capability of independent innovation of enterprises in state-level hi-tech development zone, but were also the results of actively implementation of the "National Intellectual Property Strategy Outline" and "Zhejiang Provincial Eleventh Five-Years' Plan on Intellectual Property Development ", promoting the building of the State Intellectual Property Pilot Park, vigorously strengthening IPR publicity and training, and constantly enhancing the enterprise's intellectual property creation, management, protection and application.


According to statistics, in 2009, the district invested 4.55 billion yuan for R&D funds, increased by 10% than last year, accounting for 15.5% of the GDP, and accounting for 30% of the whole city's investment. Technological alteration investment was 2.65 billion yuan, and increased by 9.5%.
