Sichuan: Chengdu keeps rapid development on IP affairs |

According to statistics of State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), the amounts of patent applications and authorizations in Chengdu hit a historically high level in 2009, the city's patent applications were 26,130, the amount of authorizations were 16,349, respectively increased by 36.3% and 58.1% compared with 2008, ranked the second in the 15 sub-provincial cities in the country, and the amount of patent ownership continues to lead the Midwest cities. In 2009, Chengdu further implemented the Outline of National Intellectual Property Strategy, promulgated the "Outline of Intellectual Property Strategy in Chengdu" combining with the construction of "high-tech Chengdu", through various initiatives strengthened the construction of intellectual property system, promoted the creation and use of intellectual property rights, enhanced intellectual property protection, improved the service system of intellectual property rights, and stimulated the whole society's awareness and ability on innovation; the patent applications authorizations were increased continuously and rapidly, the city's intellectual property management, creation, use and protection were continuously improved and its economic and social development was promoted. |
