GAPP to push the mending work of related laws

"The year 2010 is the 20 anniversary of China's first copyright law. During these 20 years, China's copyright system was gradually improved and the role of copyright was increasingly exerted in promoting the development of economy, culture and science and technology cause", said Liu Binjie, Director of General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) on January 14.

Liu Binjie put forward that, it is more difficult to protect copyright under the environment of network and digital technology due to the following reasons. First, the rapid development of science and technology comes into conflict with the comparative stability of law system, which makes it impossible to find out related laws to solve current problems; second, the integrated functions of Internet industry contravened with the singular function of traditional copyright industry; third, it is more easier and cheaper to duplicate others' works in the network and digital environment and high profits make pirates risk danger in desperation.

Liu Binjie disclosed that, the revision and drafting out work of related laws including copyright laws will be the main work for GAPP in 2010.
