Zhejiang: Yiwu IP protection benefits 24 countries |
April 26 is the tenth "World Intellectual Property Day". Days ago, subordinate Yiwu Customs of Hangzhou Customs destroyed 4 million pieces of products involving watches, cosmetics, headphones, and calculators concerning 80 worlds well-known brands, such as: Rolex, Chanel, Sony and Armani. It is learnt that, the destroyed products were captured from the shipping channels of Yiwu port since July last year. "Along with the further accelerating of globalization, the functions and responsibilities of customs on IP protection and supervision are increasingly important." Introduced by the principal of Yiwu Customs, the customs attaches great importance to IP protection, strengthens the cooperation and communication with IPR holders, puts emphasis on the illegal situation of IP infringements, "and strengthens the supervision on the commodities with concentrated infringements in importing and exporting products." Meanwhile, the customs uses advanced information technologies of customs' business to strengthen the control of risks of IP infringements, enhance the investigation rate of exporting infringing goods, and reinforce the customs officers' knowledge training and carry out various special actions. According to statistics, since the launch of business in July 2009, Yiwu Customs totally investigated 341 infringing cases with 28.55 million yuan and 21.76 million pieces of products. The investigated products not only included many foreign famous brands like Nike, LV, Armani and Panasonic, but also included many domestic famous brands like "Hero" pen, "KENDA" tires and "Butterfly" sewing needles, and the IP protection benefited 187 rights in 24 countries. |
