Jilin: patent applications and grants soar

It is informed that last year, Jilin Province made breakthrough both in patent applications and grants. The patent applications reached 5,934 pieces, up 7.19%; patent grants were 3,274 pieces, increasing by 10.09%.

In the whole province, invention patent applications were 2,166 pieces, up 14.30%; utility model patent applications were 2,912 pieces, rising by 26.50%; design patent applications were 856, dropping by 36.07%. Invention patent grants were 718 pieces, increasing by 25.09%; utility model grants were 1,931 pieces, decreasing by 3.69%; design patent grants were 625 pieces, up 58.23%. In 2009, Jilin ranked 20th in patent applications in the nation and took the 19th position in patent grants.

The high proportion of invention patent applications and grants showed the high technology content in Jilin's patent applications and grants; the rising of service patent applications and grants indicated that the independent IPR awareness of the enterprises, public institutions, S&T entities and universities were gradually elevated.
