Hubei: Wuhan IPR Safeguarding and Aid Center to reward reporters

According to the statistics, in 2009, Wuhan IPR Safeguarding and Aid Center received more than 800 person-times of complaints and reports from the public or right holders. Officials replied 252 consultations related to IPRs, answered 441 consultations with no relation with IPRs, transferred 107 valid complaints and reports (of which 31 concerned trademarks, 25 in line with copyrights, 15 involved patents and 36 related to Olympic signs) to law enforcement departments. Nowadays, 85 complaints and reports were ended.

From the establishment of the center till now, the center has transferred many clues to law enforcement departments. Based on these clues, the law enforcers have confiscated over 2,000 pieces of fake products, seized more than 10,000 pieces of illegal publications and 65,000 or more pieces of illegal AV products, banned 23 operation entities with no business licenses, investigated 18 illegal stores, closed down 8 illegal websites, inspected two schools that used illegal teaching materials, investigated 10 or more counterfeit patents and fined 16,000 yuan.

It is learn that the center will give certain amount of rewards to the reporters according to the authenticity and value of the materials submitted.
