Tibet to implement comprehensive protection of ICH this year |
Tibet this year will vigorously implement the project and inheritor protection by strengthening the construction of ICH list system, while further strengthen infrastructure construction, promote the construction of cultural and ecological protected areas, and completely promote the comprehensive protection of intangible cultural heritage. Nyima Tsering, Director of the Department of Culture in Tibet Autonomous Region said that, from December 2006 to 2009, Tibet carried out the work of general investigation on ICH. During the three-year investigation, a total of 406 intangible cultural heritage items in 14 major categories and 83 traditional theatrical performance institutions were found, and 1,177 ICH inheritors were found. It is understood that the state and the autonomous region have invested nearly 24 million yuan for the protection and heritage of representatives of national and regional intangible cultural heritages in Tibet; Tibet (cities and counties) has also invested more than 20 million yuan. |
